Half an update

It’s been a while… so here’s half an update

I unfortunately don’t have much “news” to share. I did make the decision to start radiation sooner rather than later, and this week I went for all the scans they need to create my treatment plan.

So, as of right now, all I know is that it will take about two weeks for them to finalize everything. I’m hoping to start shortly after the Fourth of July, but honestly, I’m at the mercy of the doctors and whatever openings they have available.

Which unfortunately means I’ll be needing a little more flexibility from anyone with an existing appointment. 😬

Ideally, I’ll be able to work throughout the entire six weeks of treatment. The reality is… I just don’t know yet. I also don’t know what time of day my treatments will be scheduled. They prefer to keep patients at the same time every day, which makes perfect sense—especially now that brain fog is becoming more of a thing for me. 🫠

My dream scenario would be an end-of-day appointment so I can work in the mornings, swing by radiation on the way home, and then immediately take a nap.

I’ve been warned that radiation fatigue is cumulative. The first week or two shouldn’t be much different from what I’m already dealing with, but weeks three through six may be a different story. Of course, everyone responds differently, so we’re back to my least favorite treatment plan: wait and see.

For now, I’m still booking appointments—just with a giant asterisk attached. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’d much rather have you on the schedule and need to move things around than try to keep track of everyone who wants in. (Thank you, brain fog.) If you already have an appointment booked, it’s much easier to reschedule if needed.

With any luck, none of this will be an issue. But if I’m being realistic, my schedule will probably need to change again at some point. I should know a lot more in a couple of weeks.

Thank you all, once again. I know my chaos is only entertaining until it starts affecting you personally, and I genuinely appreciate everyone who has followed along on this unexpected brain tumor journey and continued to be so supportive through all of it.
